that day….

as you can tell it really has been just a little since my last post BUT I have a good explanation. Even though I am new at this whole blogging thing, I quickly realized how much time it can consume, as many of you may know…

this blog has become very important to me and I want to give it my best so when I found out my husband was being deployed for 6 months I wanted to spend every minute of quality time with him. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to give my best so I made the decision to take a break until he left, well today was that day.floppy

here is my handsome man ready to go, I absolutely adore these floppy hats :)

LOVE

couldn’t be more proud of this man and all he does, he truly is my hero!!

while in atlanta, my husband is gone the whole morning and early afternoon doing some training. this gives me lots of hours to myself which at first thought was going to be completely dreadful, but has turned out to be the complete opposite. I have been spending the mornings eating my continental breakfast(happy as a kid on christmas), regulating the hotel “fitness center,” and reading, oh and some more reading.

I whole heartedly recommend this book to any wife, whether you have been married 2 months, 2 years or 12 years. every single page is filled with such good information and has you constantly saying “I know EXACTLY what she is talking about, or I do that/think that exact same thing.”

I am always looking for books to grow my faith and this one is a definite winner!

last night we went out and met up with some friends we met on a cruise we took back in september. since they are familiar with this area we let them choose the place to eat, and what an excellent decision that was! they took us to Joey D’s, this AAAAamazing restaurant they said was one of their faves, and I quickly came to see why! the atmosphere of this place was awesome, more of an upscale steakhouse kind of feel. I was really feeling seafood so I ordered a salmon salad while the rest of the table/wiser people ordered the beef rib which was highly recommended by our friends. I knew as soon as I saw that sucker came out I had made  huge mistake, it literally looked like the best rib I had ever laid eyes upon plus it came on a bone big enough for Fred Flintstone, it was INCREDIBLE. take a look…

ok this pic really does not do justice what so evs! and please forgive the terrible leftover pics but just had to show a little bit of the wonderfulness. I didn’t want our friends to think I was a TOTAL weirdo and whip out my cam right in the middle of din : ) after dinner we went and got dessert and coffee at an adorable little cafĂ©.  I loved getting to experience a little taste of true Atlanta!

hot lanta!

hello from atlanta, georgia! like I said before, one of the amazing things of having a husband in the air force is all the traveling…not saying we go to all these amazing exotic places or anything, butttttttt most of all just visiting places around the country I never ever thought in a mill trill years I would ever visit.

well this week took us to atlanta! Husband has some training to do down here, so I came along for the ride AND I have this weird obsession for loving to stay in hotels so I said why the heck not?!

guilty pleasure number 384732387493 is continental breakfast…like all my guilty pleasures, I really cannot make sense of this, but waking up to all this food just sitting there waiting for you to consume for free(well not really FREE, but in my mind yes for free)..its purely amazing..ok now we got that out of the way :)… today is off to do some more exploring… I will keep you updated of all the little secret treasures atlanta has to offer!

February?

How in the world is it already February?? I don’t know if its just me but this year is already starting to fly by and I am not really loving it…I only get to spend half of this year with my husband so Im trying to savor every stinkin minute we have together and not loving the fact time is FLYING by :(

BUT on a good note, today was another scorcher(sorta sarcastic) in Arkansas…it was a whoppin 75 degrees!! Seriously Im sorry but as a born and raised Oregonian I still cannot get over this 70 something degree weather in January!

Todays workout was done with my husband and consisted of 15 min on the ellipitical and 10 minute on the treadmill warm up. We focused on chest and biceps, our workout looked something like this..

Chest Press: 3 x 12

Incline dumbell press(different angles) 2 x 12

Cable flys(3 different angle variations)

Cable bicep curls(3 different angle variations)

This was an amazing upper arm workout and definitely left my biceps and chest soooooore!

I also wanted to share this amazing recipe I copied from Angela Liddon over at Oh she glows,Oatmeal Bars….these on the glow oatmeal bars were AMAZING and totally gluten and dairy free.

Ingredients: I made a few variations

  • 2.5 cups instant oats
  • 3 tbsp chia seed
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp ground flax
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp  salt
  • 1.5 cups almond milk (or other milk)
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (or other liquid sweetener)
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 banana, chopped small
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Splenda( would of liked them sweeter for sure!)
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup walnuts

wet ingredients: amounts of everything was perfect would not of changed a thing!

001

Dry Ingredients: Cinnamon is such a must have in this recipe and packed with so many healthy ingredients LOVE IT

happy monday!

or is it ever REALLY a happy monday?? I mean really who is ever REALLY excited about the weekend being over?? at least today is an absolutely gorgeous monday here in good ol arkansas…a very pleasant 65 degrees!! Im sorry but these things just don’t happen in Oregon, so I try to enjoy these days to the fullest…

that being said todays workout included a long nice run outside…nothing like running in a tank top and shorts, sorry that would never fly in an Oregon january…

this weekend also brought lots of crafting, here is one of the many projects I have been working on…I borrowed this from a couple different inspirations I found browsing on Pinterest(imagine that…: )

Burlap Placemats: (apology in advance for the terrible pics)

I first cut out the size of placemat I wanted for our table…

028

then lined them with a brown ribbon and hot glued them to the edges of the placemats to keep from fraying. I also bought a pack of chipboard letters and spray painted them black, the tricky part was coming up with four different words that revolved around food with using the alphabet only once. hubs and I put our heads together and made it work, we came up with YUM, CHOW, FOOD, EAT..success!

030

sorry I got really into my project an really didn’t get many pictures of the process of making these BUT I didn’t get one of the grand finale and here they are!

Happy Monday Everyone! Have a great week : )
